The reason why friendships can fade away

Everyone has experienced it at some point: a friendship that has faded. It can be difficult to let go at times, but it’s also okay because both parties move on to the next phase of their lives.

Friendships can fade for various reasons, and we have listed them for you.

The end of friendships

There are four different reasons why our friendships sometimes fade:

  • Difference in popularity
  • Difference in achievement level
  • Difference in gender
  • Difference in physical aggression

These are the four reasons for children, but I believe they can also apply to adults if something happens in our work situation, relocation, life, or relationship status. It’s possible that changes in our friendships may occur. The friendship will feel less robust than before, and as a result, you slowly let each other go.

Letting go

The most challenging part is sometimes admitting that you need to let each other go. It can feel like you’re not investing enough energy or that you’re forgetting the other person. However, by letting go of someone, you make room for new friends.
