This is how you should best pluck your eyebrows

Removing unwanted hairs from your eyebrows, also known as plucking, is something we do from time to time. However, the aim is to shape your eyebrows and not just pluck away at unwanted hair in a panic. In this article, we’ll tell you how to shape your eyebrows perfectly and remember, you don’t want to remove too many hairs, just the right amount!

What you’ll need:

  • Tweezers
  • Eyebrow brush
  • Scissors
  • Eyebrow pencil

Ensure your tweezers are sharp so you can effectively remove all those unwanted small hairs. It’s also helpful to have an eyebrow brush close by to comb them into shape and scissors to trim long hairs. An eyebrow pencil is a must-have to define the shape.

The starting point

The first step is determining the starting point. Place the eyebrow pencil upright next to your nostril. This is where your eyebrow should begin, also known as the starting point. Draw a line at the starting point so you can easily remove all the hairs outside it later.

The highest point

Your eyebrow naturally has a high point and slopes down from there. You can find this point by placing the pencil next to the nostril again, but this time, point it diagonally through the centre of your eye. Where the pencil touches the eyebrow should be the highest point, the arch. Mark a dot at the highest point using the eyebrow pencil.

The end

The third and final step is determining the end of the eyebrow. Lay the pencil along the nostril and align it with the outer corner of your eye. This should be where the eyebrow ends. If your eyebrow is shorter than that, you can always fill it in with the pencil. This way, you have determined the perfect eyebrow shape for your face.

Connecting

In the previous steps, you have determined the points. Now, make sure to connect them in a smooth line.

Learning to pluck

Now, it’s finally time to start plucking with the tweezers. Before you begin, it’s important to comb your eyebrows well. Then, you can start removing the hairs outside the drawn lines. Take occasional breaks from the mirror and look from a distance before removing more.

Once you’re done plucking, remove the drawn lines and enjoy the result. You can still fill in the eyebrows with the pencil if you wish.

Tip: Start plucking after a shower. The warmth will help open up your pores, making the process less painful.
