Signs that you are exhausted

There is a difference between being tired and being exhausted. Everyone has their daily life filled with work, hobbies, children, outings, and more. These activities can make you tired, but with a few days of rest, it should pass. If this is not the case for you, it could mean that you are exhausted. In this article, read about the signs of exhaustion, its causes, and what you can do about it.

Causes

Exhaustion can have various causes. Think of lack of sleep, poor nutrition, insufficient exercise, or stress. In addition to these factors, it can also be attributed to certain personality traits such as perfectionism or constant worrying. Each person is different and has a different balance. When that healthy balance is disrupted, it can lead to exhaustion.

Signs of exhaustion

  • Pale appearance and bags under the eyes
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Forgetfulness
  • Lack of energy
  • Frequent yawning
  • Increased emotional sensitivity and irritability: crying more easily, feeling easily annoyed, experiencing panic and anger
  • Weight loss due to increased energy demand
  • Weight gain due to increased eating to meet higher energy needs

What can you do about it?

Exhaustion is not something that can be resolved quickly; it takes time. It is important to analyse your lifestyle. What and how much do you eat? How much do you exercise? These are questions you can ask yourself. This way, you become more aware of how you live and can better identify which aspect needs to be addressed.

A good night’s sleep is incredibly important. Therefore, make sure you go to bed at regular times as much as possible and avoid using devices such as a phone, tablet, or laptop. Try to relax and have a restful sleep.

Find time to relax every day: it may sound easy, but it can be challenging for many people. Try to create at least one moment of conscious relaxation each day. This small moment can make a big difference.

If you can’t do it alone, consider seeking help from a coach or psychologist. They have the expertise to assist you with your exhaustion.
