Activities you can do on a rest day

You need rest days to allow your muscles to recover and to give your best in the next training session. However, on a rest day, you don’t have to do absolutely nothing. You can engage in light activities to make your day more productive and improve your metabolism. Additionally, this will make you a more energetic version of yourself.

Do you think that on a rest day, it’s best to spend the entire day on the couch with a cup of tea? The opposite is true. To allow your muscles to recover properly, they need movement. This helps transport lactic acids more efficiently, reducing muscle soreness.

Experience mood swings on a rest day?

Your metabolism increases through movement and exercise. If you don’t exercise, your body will slow down, leading to a decrease in endorphin production, which can result in mood swings and changes in mood. Keep your rest days active with these activities:

Cycling

Cycling is a light exercise that you can do outdoors in the sunshine or indoors at the gym. Cycling engages your muscles, jumpstarting your metabolism and potentially reducing muscle soreness the next day.

Smart walk

I don’t think a walk should be a problem, especially in nice weather outside. Besides enjoying a breath of fresh air, it’s also beneficial for your concentration. So, take that one-hour walk and explore the outdoors.

Yoga

During yoga, you stretch all your muscles, focus on your breathing, and require a bit of strength. This helps you relax, and you’ll eventually feel completely zen while becoming more aware of your body.

More energy

You’ll notice that doing something on a rest day keeps you feeling good and reduces the likelihood of experiencing muscle soreness.
