Oatcake

Oatcake is a delicious and healthy dessert that is easy to make. It is made from oats, a nutritious source of fiber, protein, and carbohydrates. Oatcake can be prepared with various flavours and additions depending on your preference. In this article, we will explain how to make a simple oatcake. 

Ingredients: 

  • 3 OZ. oats 
  • 2 eggs 
  • 4 FL. milk 
  • 7 FL. honey 
  • 4 OZ. butter 
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract 
  • 1 tsp baking powder 
  • 0,4 OZ. tsp salt 

Instructions: 

  • Preheat the oven to 356 °F. Grease a cake tin with butter or oil. 
  • Place the oats in a blender or food processor and blend until it becomes a fine flour. 
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add the honey and stir until fully dissolved. 
  • Beat the eggs in a bowl until they are light and fluffy. Add the milk and vanilla extract and beat until well combined. 
  • Add the oat flour, baking powder, and salt to the egg mixture. Mix well. 
  • Pour in the melted butter and honey mixture and mix until everything is well combined. 
  • Pour the batter into the greased cake tin and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake. 
  • Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes before removing it from the tin. Allow the cake to cool further on a rack before serving. 

Tips: 

  • Add chopped nuts, raisins, or pieces of dried fruit for extra flavour and texture. 
  • You can also decorate the cake with some powdered sugar or a glaze made from milk and powdered sugar. 
  • Serve the oatcake for breakfast with fresh fruit and yogurt or as a dessert with some ice cream.
